"Tomcat Courtney has always been San Diego's secret, now we are going to share that secret with the rest of the world"
At 79 years old Tomcat's new CD'Downsville Blues' is giving him international fame. The Cd is a huge hit in Europe, and is moving fast all over America. |
Tomcat grew up in the small dusty Texas town of Downsville. He has lived in Denver, Arizona, L.A., and came to San Diego in 1971. He has long been an inspiration and teacher to scores of blues players. He has been well know in San Diego, but under the blues radar everywhere else, but suddenly it is all changing for tomcat. But while they may be talking about him everywhere else, he's still just our local blues guy at Chateau Orleans. |

Let's get wet, San Clemente Iva Lees
Doug Macleod plays at Chateau Orleans, my favorite Southern, Creole restaurant west of the Mississippi. They have live blues Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. www.chateauorleans.com IvaLees exudes "Old World" opulence. The food's so good only Doug Macleod playin' his National guitar could top it. |
Doug, dubbed Dubb, by George "Harmonica" Smith (try sayin' that 3 times).
Doug's stories are as his sung's! "Is it true, or is myth, does it matter?" Doug said, after he sang "Horse with No Rider."
Doug loves to direct you to a "not so mundane way to the truth." He has said. The comfort he plays with, we all feel. "We're home" he announced. I looked around and felt a bond with everyone in "our home." |
