San Diego Dining

When you`re craving some down home Gumbo, Jambalaya, Crawfish, or a hard to find crispy Cajun Frog Leg. Chateau Orleans in Pacific Beach should be at the top of your list. This is the perfect restaurant for the adventurous diner with a love for spice and subtle Cajun-influenced Creole flavors. Fantastic friendly service and a comfortable ambience is guaranteed at Chateau Orleans.

In addition to the daily menu Chateau Orleans features tantalizing weekly specials. The night we dined. Cajun Fried Frog Legs were the speciale de jour and I couldn`t resist: a crispy exterior and surprisingly juicy and tender meat. The dish was complimented with a spicy but mildly sweet Creole sauce of tomatoes, peppers and exquisite spices. Having thoroughly enjoyed our first course, we decided to try another: Gator Bites. The alligator tail meat is lightly seasoned, then fried and garnished with a their signature Ginger Barbecue sauce. Other offering include Purple Fries (slices of fried eggplant with buttermilk dressing), Cajun Popcorn (fried crawfish tails). Louisiana Crab Cakes, and bacon wrapped barbecue scallops. For the second course we had the Acadian ètouffèe of seasoned crawfish tails sautéed with butter and spices (you can substitute the crawfish fos shrimp).I almost forgot to mention that it`s all accompanied by the best homemade Texas Cornbread and honey butter I`ve ever tasted. Another favorite is the Soft Shell Crab served with a Mustard Remoulade. And who could pass up the Crème Brulee or Pecan Pie for Dessert?

Chateau Orleans is what Cajun and Creole food is all about; great home-style food and Southern hospitality. So when dinig at Chateau Orleans, live by the Cajun saying: “Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler” (Let the good time roll)!

"The Critics"

The lazy strumming of blues guitar, the smell of spices in the air, if you close your eyes you could easily be sitting at a sidewalk cafe in the heart of the French Quarter on an easy summer evening. A little closer to home, Chateau Orleans offers a variety of truly authentic cajun cuisine with service that is southern hospitality at its finest. No matter your personal level of 'spice' tolerance, it's easy to find an entree on this menu, varied but not too long, that will satisfy any appetite. I recommend starting off with the Fried Green Tomatoes, however finishing every meal with the incredible delicious Beignets is a must! The beer and wine list compliments any dinner choice, and the knowledgeable and friendly servers will guide and suggest your way to a satisfying evening. Why not take a table on the patio, where the live jazz music lingers outside and beckons your toes to tap during your great experience at one of San Diego's finest cajun cuisines.
